Student Health

ASTHMA
Families of students with asthma are required to complete a School Asthma Action Plan with their doctor annually. Students with asthma puffers are reminded to carry these at all times. St. Patrick’s School is an Asthma Friendly School.

COMMUNICABLE DISEASES
A School Exclusion Table published by the Department of Human Services (DHS) can be found at this link

SICK BAY
A designated sick bay area is set up for student/s to sit quietly for a while or for those waiting to be collected. If students are sick enough to require bed rest, it is the school’s policy that they need to be home or with a suitable carer. In this instance the school office will contact parents or their nominated emergency contact person.

SUN SMART
St. Patrick’s is a Sun Smart School. Students are required to wear appropriate protection (i.e. sunscreen, hats) from mid August until the end of April and whenever the UV Index level reaches 3 and above.

MEDICATION
If it is necessary for a child to take medicine on a medical practitioner’s instructions during school hours, then parents are requested to send a note clearly identifying the medicine, the required dosage and the duration of the treatment (use the form below for this purpose). Should your child’s medical information require updating, please notify the school immediately.
